(Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “HIS”) to support the promotion of “Touristship.” HIS becomes our third corporate sponsor, following DyDo DRINCO, INC. and WAO CORPORATION.

■Background: Reaching Travelers Directly

Since its establishment in 2019, General Inc. Association TOURISTSHIP has undertaken a wide range of initiatives, including publishing the world’s first code of conduct for travelers, the “Touristship Code of Conduct,” which is aligned with the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC); organizing “Travel Destination Quiz Events” in approximately 20 areas across Japan, with more than 30,000 participants in total; and collaborating with local governments throughout the country.

Since 2023, the term “Touristship” has also been used by public institutions, including Japan’s Ministry of the Environment and Japan Tourism Agency. Since 2025, Touristship has also been featured in junior high school civics textbooks published by Kyoiku Shuppan.

At the same time, we have faced a challenge: reaching travelers themselves—particularly those who are about to embark on a journey—through local governments and educational settings alone. Travel agencies have some of the most direct and frequent contact with travelers. Through this sponsorship agreement, we aim to make use of these important touchpoints to introduce Touristship to travelers from the planning and preparation stages of their journeys.

■Organization Overview

General Inc.
